Position Overview Since July 1999, WeCare of Central Florida has been the only Specialty Referral Provider Network in Polk County. We do not provide services to individuals enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare, as they already have coverage. Many of our patients earn less than the federal poverty level and struggle to afford health insurance due to a lack of affordable plans from employers. WeCare is committed to helping uninsured individuals access essential healthcare and supports free clinics in Polk County without duplicating their services. Our network of over 110 volunteer specialty providers offers patients the specialized care needed to manage chronic health conditions. Although we strive to increase volunteer providers and expand services, nearly 100 people are still waiting for assistance at any time. Our ability to serve relies on the commitment of medical specialists willing to help.

Key Responsibilities Join us and our dedicated and compassionate team of specialty volunteer providers with WeCare’s Volunteer Health Care Provider Program (VHCPP), and together, let’s make a difference for those in need in Polk County:

• It is your decision: to see 1 or 2 patients per month in your office.
• It is your decision how many patients and which cases to accept.
• It is your decision in most cases for WeCare to arrange further diagnostics as needed. All WeCare patients have primary care doctors, enabling us to work together to improve lives.

Qualifications Volunteering in a medical role with WeCare's VHCPP has essential benefits available to you: 1. As a physician, physician assistant, or advanced registered nurse practitioner, you won't have to pay the biennial license renewal fee if you volunteer 1-2 patients a month with WeCare's VHCPP. 2. You earn 25% of the continuing education hours needed for your license while helping others within WeCare's VHCPP. 3. You receive liability protection under Florida's "Access to Health Care Act," which protects licensed providers who offer care to the needy and uninsured under WeCare's VHCPP.
