FAFCC Wins National Award for State Funds Grant Program
We’ve got some exciting news to share—FAFCC has been nationally recognized for the incredible work of our State Funds Grant Program!
On September 25th, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) presented FAFCC with the 2025 Power of Associations Summit Award—their highest honor—for the impact of our grant program in strengthening Florida’s healthcare safety net.
Why this award matters
Our State Funds Grant Program was designed to do something simple but powerful: give clinics across Florida the resources they need to care for more people. With the support of the Florida Legislature and Department of Health, FAFCC secured $9.5 million in recurring state funds, plus two additional $3 million appropriations to expand dental and mental health services.
That funding translates directly into action—clinics can:
-
Hire support staff so volunteer doctors can focus on patients
-
Purchase vital equipment
-
Extend clinic hours to cut down on wait times
And because accountability is at the heart of the program, every dollar is tied to real results for real people.
The impact so far
The numbers from last year alone tell the story:
-
97 clinics cared for 242,573 uninsured Floridians
-
More than 574,000 visits, including nearly 78,000 dental appointments and 32,000 mental health visits
-
$266 million in care delivered—that’s a return of $21 for every $1 invested
But behind every statistic is a person who got the care they needed. As our CEO, Rebecca DeLorenzo, CAE, put it:
“Patients across Florida have avoided unnecessary ER trips, families have gained preventive care, and individuals have regained health and independence through accessible, community-based clinics supported by this program.”
A moment of celebration
This award is about more than FAFCC—it’s about our members, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make this work possible every single day. ASAE’s President and CEO Michelle Mason summed it up best:
“It’s always so incredibly satisfying to see associations going above and beyond their everyday mission to change the world.”
We couldn’t agree more.
